Indian resumes blend Western formatting with local conventions. Photos are common, personal details are more extensive, and a declaration statement at the bottom is standard practice.
Most Indian resumes include a passport-size photo. While large multinationals are moving away from this, it remains the norm for Indian companies.
Indian resumes commonly include: father’s name, date of birth, marital status, nationality, and languages spoken. Younger job seekers at startups and MNCs are increasingly omitting some of these, but they’re expected for government jobs and traditional companies.
Indian resumes traditionally end with: "I hereby declare that the information furnished above is true to the best of my knowledge and belief." Followed by your signature, place, and date. This is unique to India.
Two pages is standard for experienced professionals. Freshers (recent graduates) should aim for one page.
Indian employers place significant weight on educational qualifications. Include your percentage/CGPA, university name, and year. For IIT/IIM/NIT graduates, the institution name carries substantial weight.
